DreadOut

Dreadout is a single-player psychological survival-horror game.

Players must take on the role of Linda Meilinda, a young teenager on a school trip who finds herself, her friends and their teacher in a strange, deserted town after taking a wrong turn. When Linda finds herself separated from her classmates after entering an abandoned school building, she discovers that not only is the school haunted by a terrifying collection of ghosts and apparitions, but that she also has supernatural powers that allow her to fight these sinister forces.

Through the use of Linda's smartphone and digital camera, players will need to fight the hostile ghosts they encounter by taking photos of them. This unusual but unique form of combat strategy causes harm to enemies and makes the game both interesting and different from other survival-horror games. As each new ghost is discovered, a backstory is provided which details the personal tragedy of that particular spectre and makes the storyline all the more interesting.

In order navigate through the corridors and classrooms to locate Linda's friends and escape from the dark, frightening school, players must also complete a series of challenging puzzles and tasks. Using the available electronic devices, players can locate clues and hints along the way which makes gameplay flow brilliantly.

With an authentic Indonesian setting, including popular Indonesian ghosts such as Tuyul, Pocong and Kunti, Dreadout creates a very authentic atmosphere. This adds to the overall gaming experience and provides players with a realistic environment. The sound effects and graphics are very good and visual indicators such as the edges of the screen turning red when danger approaches and grey when a clue is in the vicinity makes gameplay both exciting and terrifying.
